What Occupational Health Services Do You Offer?

We provide Medical Surveillance, Fitness-to-Work Assessments, OGUK/OEUK offshore certifications, Marine medical examinations (Jabatan Laut Malaysia), JPJ- GDL/PSV driver assessments, drug and alcohol testing, audiometry, spirometry, corporate wellness screening and PERKESO examinations.

What Should I Bring To My Assessment?

Please bring MyKad or passport, any previous occupational health records, the employer's referral letter (if applicable), and existing certification for renewals (OGUK or Marine). For PERKESO health screening please make your booking in the SEHATI PERKSO application and complete the questionnaires.

Do You Provide On-Site Occupational Health Services For Companies?

Yes. We offer on-site medical surveillance, drug testing and corporate health screening, at company premises. This is ideal for organizations with large employee groups who need to minimize operational downtime. Contact us to discuss requirements and scheduling.

How Long Does An Occupational Health Examination Take?

Most individual assessments take 30-40 minutes. OGUK and marine examinations may take up to 60 minutes depending on the tests required. For corporate group bookings, we provide a time estimate based on workforce size and the scope of testing needed.

Is Dr. Kavilashini A Certified Occupational Health Doctor?

Dr. Kavilashini Selvarajah is registered under DOSH and is qualified to conduct all DOSH-required medical examinations. She also holds an MSc in Occupational Health from UKM, is a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO), an OEUK Approved Medical Examiner, and an Approved Marine Medical Examiner listed with Jabatan Laut Malaysia.

What Is Medical Surveillance And Does My Company Need It?

Medical surveillance is a mandatory workforce monitoring program under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 for companies whose employees are exposed to chemicals hazardous to health. It includes pre-placement, periodic, return to work and exit examinations, plus Health Effect Monitoring (HEM), Biological Monitoring (BM), and Biological Effect Monitoring (BEM). Non-compliance can result in regulatory enforcement action.

Can I Get An OGUK Or Marine Examination At Your Clinic?

Yes. Dr. Kavilashini is an OEUK Approved Medical Examiner and an Approved Marine Medical Examiner recognised by Jabatan Laut Malaysia. We conduct both examinations at our Shah Alam facility. Assessments can be booked the same week, subject to availability.

What Is An OGUK/OEUK Medical Examination?

An OGUK medical examination is a comprehensive fitness-to-work assessment required for personnel working on offshore oil and gas installations. The OGUK certificate confirms that a worker is medically fit to work in remote offshore environments where access to medical facilities is limited.

What Is A Marine Medical Examination Under Jabatan Laut Malaysia?

A marine medical examination is a mandatory fitness assessment for all seafarers working on Malaysian-registered vessels. It is required under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance and must be conducted by an Approved Marine Medical Examiner recognised by Jabatan Laut Malaysia. The certification is typically valid for 2 years.

Who Can Conduct Marine Medical Examinations In Malaysia?

Only doctors listed as Approved Marine Medical Examiners by Jabatan Laut Malaysia are authorised to conduct these examinations. Dr. Kavilashini Selvarajah at Wawasan KVL Occuhealth is on the official approved list and conducts marine examinations at our Shah Alam facility.

What Is The Difference Between OGUK And PETRONAS Offshore Medical?

OGUK medical examinations follow Oil and Gas UK (now OEUK) guidelines and are accepted internationally for offshore work. PETRONAS offshore medicals follow PETRONAS-specific requirements for operations on PETRONAS platforms. Both assess fitness for offshore duties but have different protocols and forms. Check with your employer which standard is required.

Can I Get An Offshore Examination Without An Employer Referral?

Yes. Individual offshore workers and freelance contractors can book OGUK and marine examinations directly without a company referral. This is common for workers renewing certifications between contracts.

What Is An OHD Check-Up For Competent Person Under DOSH?

An OHD medical check-Up is a job-specific medical examination conducted by a practitioner with recognized occupational health qualifications (OHD) registered under DOSH. It is required for individuals applying for or renewing their Competent Person certification under DOSH. The examination assesses fitness for specific hazardous work and evaluates the impact of workplace exposure on employee wellbeing.

What Happens If A Company Does Not Comply With DOSH Medical Surveillance Requirements?

Failure to comply with DOSH medical surveillance requirements may result in enforcement action under Malaysian occupational safety and health laws. This can include inspections, fines, prosecution, or orders to suspend operations until compliance is achieved.

What Is A Fitness To Work Medical Assessment?

What Is A GDL And PSV Medical Examination?

A GDL and PSV medical examination is a health assessment required by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Malaysia to determine whether an individual is medically fit to operate commercial vehicles. GDL applies to goods vehicle drivers, while PSV applies to public service vehicle drivers such as bus, taxi, and e-hailing drivers.

The MRO reviews and interprets drug test results, contacts employees about positive findings, and determines if there is a legitimate clinical explanation. Having a certified MRO ensures the organisation's drug testing program is legally defensible and accurate.
